Google Chrome finalmente per Linux e Mac OS X

Sono potenzialmente instabili e il plug-in Adobe Flash non funziona, ma Google Chrome è sbarcato ufficialmente anche su piattaforme diverse da Windows.

Google ha pubblicato ufficialmente le edizioni per Linux e Mac OS X di Chrome, il nuovo browser alternativo che dallo scorso 2 settembre è diventato una realtà per gli utenti Windows.

Pur se considerato ancora “instabile” e da non utilizzare per una produttività completa, Chrome ha abbandonato lo stato di esclusivo sviluppo del progetto Chromium diventanto una realtà anche su sistemi operativi diversi da quello di Microsoft. Verificando il funzionamento su due computer, un MacBook con Mac OS X 10.5.7 e un pc con Ubuntu Linux 9.04, Chrome mostra tutte le potenzialità già offerte su Windows ma con alcune importanti limitazioni.

Il plug-in di Adobe per visualizzare le animazioni Flash non è ancora supportato, di conseguenza siti come YouTube e molti banner pubblicitari non possono essere riprodotti su Chrome. Le opzioni, da invisibili nelle precedenti edizioni di Chromium, diventano reali e funzionanti.

Con la presentazione di questa prima “beta pubblica” è probabile che Google spinga ulteriormente sull’acceleratore per proporre, al più presto, le versioni finali e completamente funzionanti di Chrome per Linux e Mac OS X.

Abbiamo provato oggi l’installazione di Chrome 32bit su Ubuntu 8.04:
