They Know Where You Live

Aug 14, 2012 | Category: Google Maps

WeKnowYourHouse.com is a social networking privacy experiment designed to show what could happen when you tweet about being at home with your location enabled

The application takes geo-tagged tweets that mention ‘home’ and then tries to work out the sender’s home address from the lat / lng of their tweet. If you click on any of the messages in the Twitter stream on WeKnowYourHouse.com you are shown a guess of the writer’s home address and a Google Street View image of the best guess of their home.

After an hour each tweet is fully deleted to protect the user’s privacy.
